Before Autotelic, before Up Dharma Down, there was Hale.

A little flashback: I’ve known Hale since 2005, when they’re still doing gigs at small bars like SaGuijo, Mayrics, and 6 Underground. I’ve always seen Champ around gigs and we’ve stayed in touch after Hale disbanded in 2010. Yes, I got heartbroken when Omnie decided to part ways with them and eventually decided to disband.

I have been hearing rumors about Hale doing a comeback since mid-2014. But these rumors sort of got verified when Nicole of Red Ninja Productions sent me an iMessage asking if I was a fan of Hale. Of course I said yes and then sort of screamed when she said that Champ, Sheldon, Roll, and Omnie (or I thought it will be Omnie) will be performing a secret set for Monty Macalino (Mayonnaise)’s birthday salubong gig at 12 Monkeys. So of course I went and brought my trusty Kodak PlaySport Zx5 camera and filmed their set.

GRABE YUNG NOSTALGIA! Abot-tenga yung ngiti ko habang pinapanood ko yung Hale. After all these years, they still sound the same. Well, not really because Omnie is not the one on drums. 🙁 But they still killed it with new drummer Pao!

Here’s my video of Hale’s first gig after 5 years!

Set list: Broken Sonnet Kung Wala Ka The Day You Said Goodnight Kahit Pa

So the question now is are they really back? Is Hale back and will play more gigs this year? All I can say is – STAY TUNED!

Edit: Sheldon Gellada, bassist of Hale just sent me a message on Facebook to clarify things:
