Coeli launches music video for Magkaibigan o Magka-ibigan

Official Press Release for Coeli’s Music Video Launch

In collaboration with Blast Off Brothers, singer-songwriter and cellist Coeli San Luis is set to release the music video of Magkaibigan o Magka-ibigan on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the SOMA Bistro, Green Sun. A certified crowd favorite, the song expresses the fear of loving again or the fear of love itself.

“The song expresses the frustration of being caught up in the middle for too long,” she said. “When I wrote this song, I was thinking about how most people are afraid of commitment.”

Enhancing her craft when she joined Ryan Cayabyab’s Elements National Singing Songwriting Camp back in 2013, Coeli is definitely a performer to watch out, with her heart-wrenchingly soulful vocal and lyrical prowess. She has been actively performing since 2015 and has then been invited to be part of various events, the most notable being this year’s Indie stage at Green Sun during the annual Fete dela Musique.

Her single Magkaibigan o Magka-ibigan, which also features Miguel Guico of The Benjamins, is known for hitting the hearts of anyone in the audience.

After months of preparation and two successful crowd-funding events held at NOVA Art Gallery and Saguijo respectively, the well-loved song is ready to be visually represented by the work of Noah De Rosario, with the story revolving around the loneliness and longing of a diwata (fairy) and a lone traveler. Everyone is invited to discover the story behind these two characters and how they transform into the physical representations of the message behind Coeli’s music while relaxing and lounging comfortably to good music and the perfect ambience on a cool Friday night.

Performing with Coeli on that spectacular night are local acts The Benjamins, Loba y Lobos, Keifer, Reese Lansangan and Tom’s Story. More than just introducing the music video though, Coeli aims to give the audience a different but equally delectable taste of local independent music.

“I long for my first music video launch to be an inner experience,” the experimental folk musician claims. “I want to go beyond entertainment. Music can do so much.”
